Jennifer Y. Sohn counsels individuals and small businesses in estate planning, business formation, business operations and tax planning, both in Washington and California. She has experience in all principal areas of federal income and estate taxation, estate planning, business planning, as well as litigation experience involving various contracts and real estate matters.
Jennifer Y. Sohn has accumulated a wealth of experience and know-how by providing legal advice to numerous high net worth individuals on estate planning for nearly 2 decades, and is currently the principal attorney of Sohn Law PLLC. Licensed in the States of Washington and California, she worked as an estate and business law attorney at Peterson Russell Kelly PLLC for several years before founding Sohn Law PLLC. As an attorney specializing in estate planning, she received the Five Star Financial Services Professional Award in years in 2016 and 2017, and was appointed as an legal counsel to the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle in 2020-2021. She is fluently bilingual in Korean and English, and provides legal advice on trusts and estate to individuals in various family and financial situations.
Prior to that, she worked at Smith LC (formerly Smith Chapman & Campbell PC), in California, handling multi-million dollar litigation, and also worked at the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office, in Washington. She received a J.D. and an LL.M. in taxation from the University of Washington Law School, and served as Managing Editor of the Washington Law Review.
She is an active member of the Korean-American community. She currently serves as the president of the board for the Washington State Korean-American Education and Culture Foundation as well as the United Seattle & Bellevue Korean School. She served on the board of directors for the Korean-American Bar Association of Washington from 2019-2023.
